Exceptional quality is the cornerstone of our brewery. All BrewDog beers are brewed using the finest malted barley and hops from the best producers around the world. Delve into our articles to learn about the brewing process, ingredients, the many types of beers and the differences between them.
Brewing Process
Our state-of-the-art Aberdeenshire brewery is a kingdom of steel and dreams. We have 3 brewing sites and a pilot kit for innovation. We also use windpower to make our beer, as well as utilising brewing by-products (like CO2, water and biomethane) to help power beer making.
Craft Beer Explained
Every country where beer is popular, there will be dozens if not hundreds of small brewers – from individuals in garages to microbreweries – doing something different. They’ll work on small batches to create novel beers in all manner of flavours, strengths and colours, from a diverse collection of ingredients.
Beer Ingredients
It only takes 4 ingredients to brew beer, but what we do with those ingredients is what makes it special. The finest malted barley, high-quality hops from around the world, purified Scottish spring water and our own house yeast strains come together in harmony to create beer for all.
What are hops?
"The hop and the grape" is a phrase which describes the two main families of fermented alcoholic drinks, beer and wine. Just as wine has dozens of varieties of grapes, so beer has a wealth of hop varieties to choose from.
Beer Strength
From alcohol-free lagers to imperial stouts, beer is not defined by its ABV. Each style has a typical alcohol content, but we also like to push the boundaries so expect the unexpected.
Guide to British Beer
Although Britain can’t claim to have invented beer (there’s evidence it dates back at least 4,000 years to Mesopotamia), it’s certainly a drink that’s associated strongly with the island.
ALL ABOUT IPAS
IPAs have a fascinating history dating back hundreds of years. By the 1990s, they had fallen out of fashion, Enter a new breed of craft brewers, when it practically became the standard drink in the craft beer world.
HOW IS ALCOHOL-FREE BEER MADE?
Alcohol-free beer, also known as low-alcohol beer, is meant to have the same taste as a regular beer without high alcohol content. It can contain anything from zero to 0.5% ABV (alcohol by volume), and in most instances, it will be a lager, but it can also be an ale and even an IPA.
Guide to Dark Beers
While many of us are happy to stick with the froth all our lives (and there’s nothing wrong with that), some of us go for complexity, and of those, the darker path is the one they love the most.

How many calories are there in an average pint of beer, and how much sugar is in there? How do alcohol-free beers compare? Since calories, carbs and sugar are the three things people worry the most about, read on to find out more.
Beer Taste Explained
You don’t have to be a hop connoisseur or a competition judge to benefit from a little understanding about what makes beer taste the way it does. Learning to recognise the subtle differences between beers will help you to choose better beer, and that can only be a good thing.
What Makes a Sour Beer?
The power of sour is a curious thing: make one man weep, make another man get a letter from Huey Lewis’s copyright attorney. So what’s behind this distinctive flavour of beer, and why is it still more of a curiosity than a brewers’ staple? Here’s a basic guide to a complex subject.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT BEER GLASS
If beer is your beverage of choice, you’ve probably noticed that fancy bars tend to serve each beer in a different, unique glass. Ever wondered why that is?
WHAT TEMPERATURE SHOULD BEER BE SERVED AT?
The perfect temperature for beer depends on the beer style, serving method and room temperature. The stronger and darker the beer, the warmer the ideal drinking temperature.
Difference between beer & ale

Beer Tasting at Home
Beer tasting at home should be fun while exposing people's taste buds to the enjoyment of new brews. Craft beer has thrown off its stuffy, snobbish image, just as wine did a decade or so earlier.
What is Gluten-Free Beer?
If you’re gluten-intolerant, you’re probably very wary of drinking beers. But that doesn’t have to be the case, and there are many beers that are gluten-free that can be enjoyed without risking your health.
Can Beer Go Out of Date?
As beer lovers, we know you hate wasting a single drop of the good stuff as much as we do. Yet there’s no denying that each brew is best drunk fresh. So if you’ve got an old can or bottle lurking at the back of your fridge and are wondering if it’s still safe to crack into, you’re not alone.

DIY Dog
Great beer begins at home, and so do great breweries. Many of the classic BrewDog beers launched not to a bar full of people, but a garage containing James, Martin and Bracken (the original BrewDog). From that garage to Fraserburgh, Ellon, Columbus and beyond the principles of homebrewing have formed the bedrock of our entire company. So in 2016, we decided to give it all back. A decade in the making; hundreds of beers to recreate at home. Adapt our recipes, tear them to pieces - but most of all, enjoy them and share your brews and results. Our mission in life is to make other people as passionate about great craft beer as we are. So here are the keys to our Kingdom.
